A short history
St Mary, Queen of Peace Basilica, Palayam is included here as a source-linked place of Catholic heritage. The directory records the commonly cited foundation or traditional date as 1933; where a date is traditional rather than documented by a surviving foundation record, that wording is kept deliberately.
The first house of worship of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, later raised to basilica status in 2008. It stands as a sign of faith and civic harmony in the capital.
